Hey all,

Moving back to Minnesota at the end of June 2019 after a 38 year absence. 57 year old, woman with a disability on a fixed income. I really don't want to be in a high crime area, if there is such a thing in Duluth.

Also looking at the St. Cloud area.

I appreciate any and all threads.

Lorraine

Generally speaking, Duluth neighborhoods of Central Hillside and West Duluth have higher crime rates than Congdon, Lester Park, Lakeside, or Woodland. The further east you are, the safer it will be.

For what it's worth, I lived in Central Hillside from 2008 to 2010 and not once did I lock my doors. I never encountered crime or hostility. Maybe I was lucky. I certainly saw my fair share of shenanigans, but I kept to myself and frankly, there wasn't much to take from me anyway

My sister lives in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It's not great. Yes, I would say the further east you go, the better (and the Kenwood area has been built up nice). I'm going to be visiting Duluth in July.

They just got a foot of snow overnight at the airport, by the way...

I dont care where you live but not locking your doors points to brain damage and extreme naivete in my opinion

Perhaps. Naivete is probably the best way to describe it.

I was aged 22, 23, 24 when I lived there. I lived in a house with 5 other 22 - 25 yr old guys. We were hard-working and strapping young men. We didn't have a pot to **** in.

With our odd working schedules, most of the time at least someone was home - and if someone did enter when we were gone, there wasn't much to take. If someone did enter when we were home, have fun with 5 22 yr old fit young men full of **** and vinegar.
