I always thought that it was having a stressful job that made them mean. And that they demanded more money for taking the stressful job.

Absolutely. Once you life it, or witness it, you see WHY they make the $$.

I think the fact that they get paid regardless of success or failure is what angers people the most.

And given the fact that they win either way, it actually doesn't make a lot of sense for them to feel so stressed.

It is a human trait to become corrupted and/or feel superior when large sums of money are involved.

In all seriousness, I think the work appeals to somewhat (if not full-blown) sociopathic personalities.

and as always... it depends on the individual. Founders of companies, and those who brought through a difficult period are often a whole better breed (as far as working FOR them). but then there was 'Chain Saw Al'...

As we transition to gen X and Y CEO's ('Entitlement' gens) things will get uglier.

Your mileage may vary.

Sociopaths are superficially charming people with a need for stimulation and a lack of empathy. They are authoritarian, grandiose, manipulative, and self-serving. These qualities are generally assets at the highest levels of business. I don't think the job makes people mean. I think the job attracts people who are already mean, and every generation has produced them.

Its too bad that those qualities are assets when in fact they are liabilities to humanity

Generally, the higher up the "food chain" in business, the more likely the people think that you are in "their" way.. no matter what the way is.

They might need to go into the Social Security office, that way they can get a feel what the ordinary American gets.
