It has always amazed me how much time people have to spend on what they like, and how little time they spend on what they really need.
Nothing amazing about it...the behaviour you describe is just good old human nature.

As we save/invest for the future however, the value of our nest eggs seem to be going the same way as the value of a dollar....down. So basically you can try to do the right thing and still get the short end of the stick in the end!

Yeah, soothsayers have been predicting a falling sky ever since the first caveman came out of his cave and noticed that there was a sky! Mabye, one of these day, the sky will fall and they will have no opportunity to celebrate being right at last...becasue the falling sky will crush all of us.

That used to be true in the days when watches had hour hands and minute hands. But with the digital takeover, when the battery dies, the doggone watch ain't never right! A digital watch with a burned out battery pretty much describes the soothsayers on this forum!

This is right, do your own research, information now is easy to obtain online with a little effort.
Forums are often populated with people who value their own opinion above facts.
Some of whom, are not even the bread winners in their own families

No doubt! Unfortunately, at least in today's economy, the so-called experts seem a little lost too I know that there is more than one way to survive and prosper through these difficult times, but geez! After reading much and consulting financial planners, nobody seems to agree on the best way to proceed. Sometimes it is just nice to hear others opinions on the current economic situation and listen to what they are doing during these turbulent times.

It often boils down to vested interest. What is good for a particular individual or group may not be what is good for the country as a whole.
When one person profits, it is usually at the expense of someone else.
When you look at our Forefathers, it is amazing that there was once a group of people who would put the welfare of the country before their own interests.
I believe the country will have to experience a major setback before we ever see leaders of that caliber again.
