Why don't you guys just bump your same predictions from the thread on gas prices back from 2008? It would save a lot of time.
Reminds me of the mass-die-off end of the world threads we had here a few months ago.
Seriously, while some of the things going are not good....every time something bad happens it's just wildly extrapolated and thus will destroy civilization in 6 months!!!!
Then when all the predictions fail...again...you guys run from the thread off to the next crisis that will end civilization. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I really, really hope, though, that no matter what happens to prices the car companies go full speed ahead on developing engines that can get insanely high gas mileage. Who cares about horsepower, as long as a car can get from point A to point B, and can get up to full speed on the freeway- that's all that matters.
NiceT4 in Georgia (on one of the forums) drives a golf cart around town, gets him from Point A to Point B. The highway, well that could be a little rough. But a combo of golf cart and public transportation could save us.
