Most of the loaned money has been repaid, with interest. Only one poster has alluded to this. This repayment, too, is part of the "reality" of the situation, but not a part that the OP or Jimhcom would be interested in, as it detracts somewhat from the "ain't it awful" rants.

Actually, according to an MSNBC report that pay back line was misleading. The amt paid back wasn't the full amt. So some hard figures would be nice to see.
However, it still doesn't show who benefits from the (interest) and who suffers.
I haven't met a single person who was in favor of the TARP, TALF.
Sounds like you were?
Haven't seen "ain't it awful rants". Pretty bipolar view imo.
well that must be very good news indeed, since the federal reserve "lent" out more than our entire national debt. since we are getting all this money flowing back in, our national debt must be going down.
i guess with all these repayments of trillions of dollars "lent", with interest no less!-we certainly won't need to raise the debt ceiling.

would you expect anything else but ... dont forget the less succesful you are finacially the worse everything seems to be around you.
that is a copout, playing to the "class warfare" theme.
plenty of successful people love their country, but don't like the direction it is going and are concerned about the FUTURE ramifications of this furiously increasing debt load, the in-your-face fraud, and the shrinking US GDP and market share.
is it enough to have a good day today and not think about what tomorrow will bring?
the media is trying basically to ignore this story (really how can you ignore a 16.5 trillion dollar loan/bailout?) and most people aren't even aware of some of the details:
the CEO of JP Morgan Chase serving on the board of the New York Fed even as his firm scooped up almost $500 billion from the central bank. The bank was simultaneously helping to administer the Fed’s secret bailouts.
But JP Morgan Chase was hardly the only example. According to the analysis, more than 80 percent of the Fed’s largest contracts to manage the programs were awarded without bidding.
Many of the companies that received the contracts were also being showered with central-bank bailouts at the same time. And more than a few insiders were granted “waivers” to hold investments in companies that were being rescued by the Fed.
no wonder they tried to keep it "secret".

the point is they are succesful because they learned what they needed to do to take control of their lives , they acted, their focus was on meeting their goals and they made things happen in their lives..
they didnt spend their time dredging up every piece of negative crap at the expense of their own successful plan.
they did what it took to be successful. its okay to complain about the ills of the world and research the problems but not at the expense of working out your own successful way of dealing with your own problems and meeting your own goals....
if your not part of the solution your part of the problem.
i would venture to say thats not the case with the doom and gloomers here. they have failed to be succesful financially so they dig up all the blame they can on everything and everyone else so they can point it out to the rest of us and still dont focus on making things better for themselves and having an action plan..
i was watching some old sam kinison routines.
he did one on how he couldnt understand why they are starving in many countries with no food..... see this ,as he sifts through the sand, this is sand . nothing grows in sand ,,, so instead of these people looking for the world to give them food why arent they building carts, and u-halls. let them move to where the food is.
we have desserts in america too but we dont live in them,we go where we have food.
sam wasnt far off the mark.... we have those complainers that just never look for the food so to speak.they just complain there is no food and those with food have to support us.
im not starting a debate on world hunger but you get the idea.

Ironic to use Sam, as an example of wisdom, while you talk about "complainers". (Also assume you meant desert and not dessert...maybe more irony.)
The man who spent his whole life yelling at people and died of a coronary.... LOL
The action you take is indeed important. Not just for yourself, but for your fellow humans, as well.
However, labeling people based on broad assumptions is simply a perspective based on your personal biases.
sam was actually a very bitter person. he was crushed from a love affair and some other stuff in his life as well. its no surprise his life ended early with all his abuse to his body.
