This cannot be done, thus outsourcing of anything that makes economic sense has been going on for decades.

Do you really expect them to make jet engines and complex aerospace parts, which have always been a big part of the U.S manufacturing base? Many companies did try to outsource increasingly more complex work overseas. They found out the hard way that it doesn't work that easy.

Can China manufacture and assemble MacBooks and Iphones more cost effectively than if done in the U.S.A.? Absolutely. That's why they are made there. That doesn't mean the majority of manufacturing will be done elsewhere.
You need to have a trip to china and see whats going on there. They have the full spectrum from very crappy stuff to very high end stuff (its just that high end is not their main game yet...or for a while...but they will be producing more high end stuff in the future....its the trend.

Corporations are obligated to maximize shareholder value. Not to make what your version of "reasonable" profits is. Did your family members ever own a home, and sell it for a large profit? I could just as reasonably say, "They made an unreasonable profit, and the excess profit should be seized for redistribution to others". I'd be as morally wrong, as you would be to think you, and not the shareholders, have the right to call the shots. Your family member who sold his home was its sole shareholder-he called the shots on his asking price. No interference.
The middle class is being hollowed out as we become a service sector economy.....can we all say uk!

It is the aggregate nature of this slave labor that is aiding the chinese communist party and chinese companies in exerting pressure and control over other international markets. It is also the toughness and resilience of these so called slave workers which are slowing but surely giving the beatdown to workers in other markets. I am not agreeing with slave style labor laws or practies, but what ppl need to understand is that many countries also had slave labor in the past. as countries change and mature their labor laws will change....it is not a matter of right or wrong....it is just the development cycle of a country.

WHY DO YOU THINK THE US WANTÈS CHINA TO RAISE THE CURRENCY....SO THAT JOBS WILL COME BACK TO AMERICA! I THINK NOT! I will tell you the reason when I have time to start a new tread as it is beyond the scope of this thread to extrapolate anymore.

Like any other country, if you want quality, you have to pay for it. There are Chinese companies that have full quality control, skilled staff, experts in their fields, etc... They also charge you a fair price for it. Most companies don't outsource their work to China with the intention of scoring high quality work.

And yes, there are garbage companies in America that can offer you cheap crap quality work. If your gonna go that route, it's cheaper to go to China for it, although rising wages in China and transportation costs may change that, as well as changing of business practices.

I'd like to know what kind of steel those jets are made out of by the way, as well as those bridges they manufactured for California. Seen a lot of rejected work in my day due to cheap Chinese steel that can't pass quality control. That's all the bean counters care about, cheap cheap cheap. Until their outfit goes out of business that is
