I visited the Dave Ramsey website, under the getting started > budgeting section, and the lowest monthly income is $3,000
At work, Vanguard had one of their representatives come out and give a retirement class. In the pamphlet they handed there was a chart giving examples of how much money one could theoretically earn over the years (401k), and the lowest wage they had on the chart was $30,000.

I'm medically retired from the Marine Corps due to physical injuries to my feet and spine. I also have PTSD from combat in Iraq.
Last year my income was my pension, and the GI bill as I went to school.
I'm also 29.
I currently make over $2k/week and was just offered a $130k/year job.
Man up, go see the VA if you need help and put the skills you have gained to use!

I just got a note from a friend who has been looking for work for a LONG time. He just got a job making $10.00 an hour and he is happy as all get out!
So I guess it is how you look at these things.
I would suggest not looking at these sites where they imply people should be making 30K. That is nonsense. Many people I know (who are lucky enough to have jobs) are making near minimum wage.
So you are doing better than they are. Read the "Work and Employment" section on this forum. Many people there who are having a *very* difficult time finding any work. Maybe that will make you feel a bit better?
So far as the SAD, if that is the seasonal thing, and if you live in an area where it is constantly cloudy this time of year, turning on all the lights in the house for a while can help.
Anything we can do to help? Why were you looking at those investment sites?
You don't necessarily need to have a ton of money to make investments and make money. In theory, if you learn about investments and find something which works, you could turn a few hundred dollars into much more.

but i made up my mind to not die instead to disappoint my enemies.
u can do it.
think small. work 2 jobs, buy a small fixer upper when its low market fix it up. rent out a room pay it off. get another do it again domino effect keep at it. dont marry or have kids.
never never hang with losers. dont debt. avoid bars like lice. dont drink or smoke or do dope. make good friends in churches and self improvement classes.
u can do it. if u find u r stable enough, take some trade classes and move up a bit but dont go crazy wth ambition easy does it. the race goes to the slow and sure not the fast and furious. .
daily be grateful for every single dime that comes your way.

That sounds incredibly fantastic for you! In all regards, I'm washed away and my mind is a race. I would not make it through a four year college.

I was unemployed for 1 year, even drove all the way down to Texas for an interview only to be laughed at

I'm worried about retirement, I'm not sure if I will ever make a decent income and SS looks like a goner.

Never smoked (doesn't kill you fast enough), don't drink, probably will never get married because I haven't even had a girlfriend
The trades seem shattered during these economic times; its hard to get into the electrician apprenticeship in my area, resumes just don't cut it (they throw them away); after knocking on some doors and passing a couple of tests I did have a panel interview, but I didn't make it. In fact, it was a complete disaster. Even if I did, half of those guys are laid off right now.
