The 1990 Fleetwood was rated 23 HWY and had a 4.5L engine (180 HP). Its curb weight was 3600 lbs. Many small cars double that today at a similar weight. And with much more power.

I've got a Taurus SHO that gets 25 HWY with 365 HP and AWD, no complaints here.

Not sure how things are in other areas but where I sit things are looking just fine. Housing is up. Car sales are up. Companies are hiring again. Still I would love to see a major drop in home prices. We have had one sale on our street since I bought in 2010 and it sold in May for $70,000 more than we paid. Another near us recently sold for $49,000 more than we paid and that home needed work. I would love to buy a couple more homes. LOL.

This year a couple neighbors replaced cars, across the street they picked up a new Acura. At work I have seen plenty of new cars in the parking structure.
