$1 coins cost more to make , but lasts much longer that a paper dollar . I've spent alot of time in Canada and have had loonies ($1 coin ) and toonies ($2 coin) in my pocket and was ok with that . People will get used to them
This crap again. Why try to foist another change on the public and not just encourage more people to use debit cards instead? Much like 3D movies, they keep trying to push a dollar bill coin on us.

Got news for you: Pennies have been mostly zinc for decades. The United States Mint · About The Mint Since they have such little value, why produce them, except for collectors?
I wouldn't mind getting dollar coins back for change at the store. Getting a vending machine to accept wrinkled dollar bills is a pain in the butt. You never have enough change. Most machines are around $1 for sodas and snacks.
I like dollar coins. I DON'T like that they look and feel too much like quarters. I would love it if they fixed that design flaw, but agree that they need to simultaneously stop printing new dollar bills.
That's why the U.S. should make them very distinctive like Canada's, which are two-tone, with a silver outside but a copper-colored center "doughnut hole".
