We owe $1296 in taxes - guess cause we both messed up on our witholdings on our W4's - but oh well hay ho!

So we filed by MAIL via FREETAXUSA.com

I have a bill me later account AND I had just enough credit to use it to apply to our taxes owed....

I made a $1095 payment thru payusatax.com bill me later and then a separate $100 payment with bill me later from pay1040.com (first time I've done this, so am just testing the waters).

How will these payments reflect our taxes owed - because we have not yet MAILED our tax return, we will pay the left over $100 with a check with 1040-v when we will mail our tax return this week.

The last thing I want is IRS hunting us down saying they never received the bill me later payment etc... but reading thru their FAQ's on their website assured me that payments go DIRECT to the IRS, plus I have email confirmation as well as a payment confirmation number.

any advice

if i posted this in the wrong forum, can a mod move my post to suggest to me please where I should post about a 'filing taxes' question??

thanks!

I'm confused. You don't have to pay taxes owed until April 15th. You can file your taxes anytime before the due date.

Why are you filing now?
Save money and send check in April, dated on the last date of time extension.
Otherwise, it looks like bunch of marketing for some online sites.

The IRS will accept money anytime. They're not picky.

Why are you filing and paying now? You have until April 15. I also know that I will owe this year - I set up my withholding so I always owe a bit - so I submit everything the first week of April.

If I owed, I sure wouldn't be paying early.

I'm confused to why you didn't just send what you owe WITH your tax forms so everything could be reconcilled immediately. You seem to be on a mission to make your simple tax return very complicated since you are sending them money they don't yet know you owe them. Hopefully it will work out but I'd expect some communication with the IRS along the line if I were you.

File for an extension in April. I think then you'll have until September to pay, but check and make sure. Make a budget that will allow you to save the money that you need to pay. If you can put aside $200/month, you'll have the money by July and can file and pay then. If you can't put aside the money to pay the tax, then find a part-time job and make the money you need.

Also, you might have someone look over your taxes or try entering the info on another tax website like turbotax or H&R Block and see if you did it all right.

The extension is for FILING, not for paying anything that's owed!! When you file for the extension, you have to estimate what you owe and pay it at that time -- i.e., by April 15th.

But I too am puzzled as to why she is paying two and a half months early. To me the OP reads like spam, as someone else mentioned.

Hope we're wrong, OP, but your post is, well, odd.
