I realize that the pesky 43-44% figure annoys a lot of people, most notably those to whom it applies, but even they know we're not talking about sales tax here(we all pay that), so let's get back on track, shall we?
It is a fact that the figure is valid and that these people pay no federal income tax and, often, no state income tax, either. Along with the EITC, burger-flippers are getting "refunds" in the thousands--"refunds" that far exceed any income tax that was paid. In addition, many states also offer EITC credits. Refundable tax credits are a huge redistribution scheme.
April 15 used to be a dreaded date for many taxpayers; for an increasing number of people, it's now the deadline by which one has to apply to get yet another taxpayer handout to the tune of thousands of dollars.
