Will the prices stay the same or will the tip money be added to the food cost?
They haven't indicated, in all liklihood, prices will be competitive with like restaurants, the labor cost savings will be the ROI to justify the capital investment.
With this move, they don't need both dedicated waitstaff and table cleaners, at least in the same amount of payroll hours annually.
Did they pull this 15.00 number out of a hat? Just because they think they are worth it? Do these people even have a concept of what others are earning in the workplace? Geesh.
Applebees is installing 100,000 of them this year..at every table.
They never strike, whine, take time off...
regardless of their payroll issues, I love the idea. im happy with servers, but still I think it would be better to just order on a tablet and request refills, dessert, more stuff, etc. via the tablet and then pay without dealing with someone. im not saying I have issues dealing with people, but id like to try it out.

I like it also. Now whether you need 30 seconds or 15 minutes to decide, no one is coming by needlessly asking if you are ready. It could be far more efficient.
A McDonald's franchise owner does not look at how much profit he makes each month to determine how much he can afford to pay his employees. He looks at how difficult it is to get employees.
I understand that in the Dakotas, there are hamburger joints offering $15/hour. Are they doing this because they realize oil field workers will pay more for hamburgers so therefore their profit margin is higher and they can pay their employees more?
Or because they can't get anyone to flip burgers for $10/hour?
At the turn of the 20th century the labor movement finally came to the conclusion that they needed to limit immigration to raise working wages. That was done....and wages went up. AND it was still a battle!!
It is a simple supply/demand curve. Limit immigration and wages will go up.
Read your history books. The reason slavery came to North America is that the elites were not happy with the seven year indentured servant program. Yeah, it was profitible, but IF you OWNED the person for life just think how much more money you could make!!!
The elites today are the same as the elites of the 16th century.
People often reference small business owners when discussing wages. This isn't about the mom and pop burger joint. This is about the large, billion dollar companies looking for ways to squeeze more profit out of their enterprises.
Advances in automation and stagnant wages will not trickle down to consumers in the form of lower prices. Any increases to profit margins will go back into the company coffers.

Why is it awful for a company to make a profit? I guess it's not important to save for a rainy day.
Why is a blind eye turned towards non-profits? I think if some seen the paystubs the executives were taking home they'd poop.
The poor have it a lot better today then they ever have:

Most of the fast food places are franchisees, in other words, mom & pop burger joints. Very few are owned by the corporation. The only way the $15 would affect the corporations is making it harder to sell a franchise due to lower profits for the owners.
