$10,000 last I checked. I don't think residency status matters though. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think there is so much a limit on how much you carry, but rather a limit on how much you can carry before you have to declare the cash.
There is no maximum. It has to be declared if it is over a designated amount.
The amount to declare is $10,000 leaving the country. I don't know what it is to bring money in, but it is probably the same.
It's not unusual for legal residents to bring in cash to buy houses or businesses. There is no problem about bringing in cash. The government might have a few questions to make sure it isn't drug money (which they would like to seize)
Now, OP, if you are coming in twice a month with large amount of cash each time, the feds are going to pull you aside to talk to you.
As already stated if one brings $10,000 or more into the USA, one must declare it on the US Customs form needed to enter the USA. There is no max. amount meaning one can bring as much as one wants to. But it is possible that the Customs officials will ask you some questions to make sure the cash is being used for legal purposes and not for drug smuggling, etc.

I hope it is safe to assume that if I bring in $9900 and don't need to declare that I am bringing cash $10000 or more in the line item 13 in the US Customs and Border Protection Form that deals with the Cash part
and line item 15 asks for the value of the materials. Line item 15 does not include the value of the cash right?

Entering the country is not the time that you want to find yourself in violation of the law, not even by accident.
I agree one should look it up by oneself.
