Where do you live and what kind of house are you living in? I spend much less than $436 for utilities, including a home phone, internet, gas and electric. My house is 1440 sq. ft.

I just estimated the 436. Im not sure what'd it cost, but I think it'd be around $250-300 so I overestimated to 436.

For some apartments heating and cooling is included.

When I had my first apartment my electric bill was around $45 a month. I always hop around for the best cable/Satelite offer so my bill stays under $50 a month. I pay $30 for high speed internet. $430 is a high estimate but at least you're over estimating. Is your cell phone bill included here?

Some people spend 200/month on bars. Some like fine dining and spend 300/month on resteraunts, etc.... I spend the extra $$ over a lower car payment on my hobby. Ideally I'd want by payment to be $625, but $550 is the highest I want at 22. By 32-33 I should be making 100k+ (without bonus), and by then I can spend a lot more on cars. I have no idea what utilities would be, I just sorta guessed 436.
Ok. I doubt the utilities will be that high on a 1-bedroom apt. Probably will be around $100/mo. give or take for the basics, internet can be had for $20. If you want cable that can add another $50-$70/mo.

I plan to contribute to retirement but dunno how much that would be. I plan on retiring around 67ish, so abou t 45+ years of working.
10% of gross income is the standard advice, if you want to be extra-careful you can do 15% in case SS or Medicare is severely reduced when your turn comes around.

Learn how to cook, and you won't be eating out.

Depends on the job. A lot of employers are expecting 50 or 60 hrs. of work per week resulting in not having the time/energy to cook.

True car hobbyists don't finance their toys, but you have time..

Lower the utilities to this

Gas - winter 90-125, rest of year 20-30 if that
Electric - 50-100 month
Cable - 100

Much cheaper than $436.00

OP is in an HCOL area so I'd assume the apartment is small (<500 sq ft.) and has lower utility bills, or at least on the low end of your range.

$100 for cable would include some premium channels, right?
