Obviously you don't read that I was using very rough numbers but go ahead, keep supporting high taxes and wonder why the middle class can't get ahead. I'll laugh as you cry the blues, you did it to yourself and some people are so illiterate they can't see past the rhetoric.
Your lack of understanding had nothing to do with "rough numbers" but rather a lack of understanding how the federal income tax system works. I'm far from illiterate, but if I was how much more embarrassing would it be that an illiterate was able to show your ignorance of the progressive system we have?
Please explain to me how burdensome taxes are on the rich. Specifically federal income tax if you don't mind and please tie in a historical perspective
Some people are a waste of time so if you can't comprehend what I posted, I'll put you on that list.

it is only a huge deal in lower cost areas. here in the tristate area anyone with a paid off home and a bunch of years in a 401k hits that number easily but they can't live on it.
it is all relative.
like i said above there is no way we would be retiring with only 1 million here in ny and we live in a rent stabilized apartment . it would be to stressful sweating every unexpected bill , to full of only needs and to few wants and not have enough slack in it for the awe craps in life .
folks make do on just social security and survive but that is not the life we want for the culmination of a life of working ,scrimping and saving.
I'm not sure what you people are thinking that a million dollars isn't a big deal. It's a HUGE deal.
It's a nice sum of money to have in the bank, for sure - but unless you are incredibly frugal it is NOT enough to live on indefinitely (which is the image most people seem to have in their heads when they picture having a million dollars to their name - "I can quit my job now!").

Nobody is saying it's not a huge deal. It just isn't as huge a deal as it used to be. 1 million dollars just doesn't have the horsepower it used to.
Ok my truck brand new was 26k in 1999. For the same truck today I eould be paying about 60k. 70 if I wanted the extras. But apples to apples would be 60k.
