For crying out loud, "the globe" is lots of things and people and places. Everybody knows that. But nobody is dialing up Yellen and telling her not to raise rates. That's not at all how things work.

It exploded in 2008. The shock waves are still being felt, thanks in large part to one political party's having been invested in opposition and resistance to economic recovery.

Come on. The end of a recession comes at a trough -- the point when things finally stop getting worse. This DOES NOT mean that things are suddenly all better. It means that expansion has begun once again, and that eventually, it may be possible to grow back to where we once had been and then beyond. This process goes more smoothly when the party not in the White House supports rather than opposes the notion of recovery.
