Sounds like too much brainwork. I'll just settle for stock market gains and pay up.

Yeah, imagine how long you'd last if people kept giving you a dollar and then demanding that you give 35 cents of it back. Times are tough out here alright!

Precisely. But then the 'doom and gloom' crowd always needs to bring up (ad nauseam) the numbers surrounding those individuals 'no longer actively looking for work' (etc.). And the disagreement over which numbers are more important continues...

Initial UI claims have nothing to do with the actual (U-3) unemployment rate, although the patterns of UI claims over time do contribute to the seasonal adjustment factors for U-3.
