A mind is a terrible thing to waste. But I agree that Trump must go. In office for only a week, he is already creeping into contention for the title of Worst US President Ever.

By the way, I'm still waiting for North Vietnamese fishing boats to sail into San Francisco Bay, and for Baghdad shopkeepers to come after me with chainsaws.

While having increased since 1970, the foreign-born share of the US population is still below the norms that prevailed from before the Civil War to the end of WWI. Meanwhile the number of "illegals" has been declining since the Great Recession.

Taxes on nearly everyone are at their lowest levels in fifty years.

Social Security funds can only be spent on Social Security benefits which is one reason why the system is sitting on a surplus of more than $2.8 trillion.

The Mexican Peso has dropped by about a third. The tariff won't be effective on incoming goods, but there should be a contraction in goods sold to Mexico.

The US is a really big country and the OP is from New York area I am guessing? One thing you all probably don't realize being so far away form the border to Mexico is how the US is affecting Mexico badly. So my interpretation of this "security, including border security, terrorist threats and the traffic of illegal drugs, weapons and cash" is not a threat but Mexico asking for the US to finally pay attention to the fact that Texas and other states bordering Mexico are being used to transport cash and guns into Mexico making it unsafer. I live in Texas.

This is something many northern folks don't seem to know-we the US is having a horrible affect on Mexico especially Texas where yes no matter what anyone says you can still buy guns with no wait period, for cash and no backgrounds checks here.

In Mexico, Tens Of Thousands Of Illegal Guns Come From The U.S. : The Two-Way : NPR

"From 2009 to 2014, more than 73,000 guns that were seized in Mexico were traced to the U.S., "

So I find it interesting you initially saw it as a possible threat when that to me is about the furthest thing from what it is and shows how isolated each one of us can get from each other's thinking.

I was reading the article and saw this interesting "Many of those guns were bought legally in the U.S. and then smuggled over the border, according to the GAO." So for all the guns I know of sold illegally it seems that actually most are bought legally-ugh so much for feeling any sense of ethics in buying guns for protection within the US. Seems some ass-hats are buying them legally to take to Mexico.

Another thing is there is already a wall there. Maybe that is not well known? There is already a wall except sadly where there is a desert. The desert needs no wall because that is where the illegals go and get stuck and many times and they die due from lack of water, coyotes that fail them (human smugglers) and the sun.

People have been told that we have "open borders" and that illegals are flooding into the country in order to have babies, get on welfare, and vote for Democrats.

They'll just dig under the wall Trump puts up.

There are miles of tunnels underground now that exit in warehouses near the ca border.

The bottom line is that most of the people coming across the border illegally are ultimately looking for a better life. Yes, some are coming for insidious purposes, but many are wanting a shot.

It ultimately is a referendum on Mexico and its government that the place is such a hellhole people are willing to die with smugglers to get out of there.
