It's typically advisable to do your homework before the exam. Infrastructure is actually expensive everywhere, but especially in those areas where it's done right, rather than being done on the cheap.

Use the tax money where it is collected.
What about places where they cannot afford to improve infrastructure?

They simply don't get it done or if they have a smart representative, there could be deals behind closed doors.
That's why you simply can't have local governments take care of their own infrastructure. If a small town of 600 people has a bridge in the city limits, if that bridge is in need of repair or replacement, that city would be financially wiped out. And if they can't fix it they may stop other people from traveling. Otherwise if it's THEIRbridge they should be able to charge a tariff or tax for anyone going over that bridge that isn't a resident. Right? Imagine the back up if it's a well traveled road. And what do you do to a long two lane road in the desert somewhere going from nowhere to middle of nowhere connecting a town of 300 to a town of 500 to a city of 60,000
No, infrastructure needs to be a combined city, county, state and federal joint venture.

Of course, 100% agree; Anti-tax/spend people have no clue on how infrastructure works.

Maintain the current infrastructure, (Roads and bridges)
upgrade rail (Passenger and freight)
Upgrade air (as reasonable / for FASTER turns / more traffic / freight

Discourage cars and trucks
(go to a Euro fuel price / close all "drive-up" windows and get people off their Butts and back on their FEET! and bikes)

#1, fix the Electrical grid
#2, WIRE the USA (Urban and Rural) FREE and FAST with 'commerce credits' (UK used 1930's style REA type rural fiber. NICE!!!)

USA is not very LT economy / jobs / national wealth 'strategic' .
just get elected every 2-4 yrs and do nothing but campaign...

sad.
