Well we have a great deal of baby boomers retiring in the next few years, I'm not certain they will all get behind the wheel of a motorhome and drive perhaps they will spend more time off the road stayingat home and enjoying the fact they don't have to travel to work. So with all those the are riding bikes to work, school and the baby boomers staying at home, just maybe we will have th slightest reduction in usage.

Why not just use coal gasification? I am sure there are ways of improving efficiency. Seriously, we need to stop wasting our oil reserves to fuel transportation. That oil should be available to future generations for multiple uses.

No company is willing to bet many billions of dollars on process, plant, and environmental fights to make it happen for some undetermined future profit level that would be attacked if perceived as too high.

them tree huggers cant keep the feds at bay forever. We'll run short on oil one day and the feds will tell the huggers to **** and get out the way.

Apparently you never heard of the Fischer-Tropsch process. Currently in South Africa they are using this process to manufacture fuels - however, it produces far more CO2 than current refining practices.

We can't possibly drill here for oil. We might interupt a Fairy Shrimp laying eggs or uproot some Medow Foam, or god forbid move a herd of Caribou. We will choke to death on our own liberal ideology. Who said that? Orson Wells? Can't remember, but he was right.

I saw a show on discovery science last night. Although they say there is no drilling in ANWR I saw the drills with my own eyes in this documentary, though not at a large scale pace. I say instead of drilling just come up with ways to move away from petroleum based fuel.

Fire up the drills. Let the greenies ride their bikes and hug trees, I want a warm house in the winter, a vehicle to actually move the family around with, and one to do my job with.

I would rather see our country continue to import oil, but become far less dependent on it. conservation and alternative fuel consumption.

The poster who rides his bike to work- good for you. Not only are you saving $, but you will most likely outlive and have a healthier life than your co-workers who drive.
