I went last night. Nothing to see here. Still spent double the amount of any other store.
....and there you have it.As with any grocery store they will drop prices on some items to get people in and make full make up on others to make up the difference.
Skip Whole Foods all together. If you have a Fresh Thyme market in your area you already know the model works, so long is it isn't WF. Fresh Thyme was seeded by Meijers out of Michigan since they wanted in the market but it doesn't fit their stores.
Fresh Thyme is VERY good, and has everything Whole Foods offered, except that Fresh Thyme has great customer service.
If those don't work for you then try Supervalu's private brands: Wild Harvest (both organic or free from products) is a Great Product Line. Also very good is Essential Everyday, Culinary Circle, Equaline, Arctic Shores, Baby Basics, Stockman & Dakota, Stone Ridge Creamery (great ice cream and ice cream products), Super Chill (Beverages & H2O) and finally Shoppers Value. Great Products at a very good value. Try them all! We'll be adding new product lines in the near future.
Thank goodness. Starting next week I will be hauling my food from Harlem to Mott haven. Screw western beef. Cheaper food means more people will buy, however this will also spell doom for whole foods Image being a brand for wealthy people who make a 6 figure incomes, as well as brand for liberal type of people. I wonder if whole foods image with downgrade with more and more normal folks shopping their? Will liberal elitist change the supermarket because whole foods now attract normal people?
The WF in my town gets all kinds of people. They lost me, though; they hiked up their prices too much in the last year. I can get some basic items for close to half price elsewhere in town.
Well went today and spent $83.16. Needed things like GMO-free olive oil, and organic potatoes for some good roasting, plus some treats like Van Leeuwen ice cream. Saved a $1.20, as most of what I regularly buy was the same price as usual. However, organic arugula is now $3.49, as is Whole Foods 1% organic milk. Should sell Van Leeuwen cheaper. No breaks. Still $7.99 regularly like before, but needed my French Vanilla Bean fix.
I walked through WF on Monday. Prices are not reduced.
I will check WF prices again this weekend.
For the record, I think $7 tilapia is WAY overpriced, by like 180%. (Should be $3.99 tops and it is often available at that price at many places.)
Amazon will eventually wipe Walmart out. At least that of the Walmart we know of today.
I don't have the luxury to shop at Walmart. Neither do you. That is a penalty in itself.
