I think when people say Detroit they say Detroit city limits. And I've been there. Detroit itself is a dump. The suburbs are a whole different story.

But there really is a Hell in the Detroit-Ann Arbor exburbs. Far more pleasant than Paradise, MI in the chilly and grey Upper Peninsula.

Both coasts kind of takes Austin out of it doesn't it? I lived there- you have to connect to fly anywhere.
I don't remember the last time I had to connect out of Austin.

If Bezos had any social legacy aspirations, locating in the city of Detroit would be a obvious choice. He and Amazon could take credit for bringing Detroit back to it's former glory.

They expect to draw workers from the local population and in Boston that means lots of transplants that came for school and never left. They're used to it. As long as there are plenty of places to get growlers of organic, free range, cold pressed, hops infused honey mead, their beard wax, and unicycle repaired, they'll make friends.
Weed is legal in both states... so... Amazon might be into that.

Downtown is already roaring back. Although, I'm sure they would take credit, it would be closer to the cherry on the top rather than driving the change. Downtown Detroit is unrecognizable from 2008 compared to today.

Yeah, Nashville is a great place to visit, but the weather there is horrible.
