Does money matter when a pregnant teen mom working at a diner in the Midwest is closer to buying a home than me?
Well yes, because you can always move and having more assets than her can buy whatever you want. You're far closer to buying a home, it's just the odds are the pregnant teen Mom doesn't have a paralyzing fear of leaving Mommy's basement like you do.
I know, I know, this is where you go into your ridiculous spiel about risk of death from natural disasters or weather or imply it is impossible to find a job anywhere but in your exact neighborhood. That is the irrational mental state I reference, and why I point out the problem with you is you, not the economy.
That's not the choice someone who has actually done both would make.
That's the funny thing, he hasn't actually done anything. He talks authoritatively about how only a few hundred people in the Phoenix metro area work outdoors (of over 4 million) and when it is clearly proven to be false he just brushes it off and moves on to his next asinine commentary about something he knows nothing about.
I don’t have to worry about dying in the car like I would in the Midwest if my heater broke or accidentally left the window open.
How cold you think it gets in the Midwest? Do you lack the ability to sense cold? If the heater breaks you put on a jacket and call the repair person well before you freeze to death. If the window is open you'll only notice at the end of the month when your gas bill is higher than normal.

Rational people don't worry about dying in a car in the midwest, that is the difference and that is why your problem is your irrational anxiety issues and not the economy.

Ask him how many people out of the tens of millions living in the midwest die of exposure, prepare for hilarity of more nonsensical rationale and attempts to deflect his utter lack of common sense.
We deliberately leave a bedroom window slightly open in the winter for the fresh air. Haven't died yet.
I had a friend who worked as a linesman for fiber internet in Phoenix. Knew him at least eight years while he worked outdoors every day.
Despite Permabear's proclamations on how people would die in Phoenix working outdoors, dude showed up for happy hour every Friday. Amazing how reality conflicts with visions generated by those who have no idea what they are talking about.
