Debt is a poor man system to make them work. You price something so out of reach to make them work for it and you gain extra percentage from it.

While there is no shortage of families who can't keep food on the table without going into debt, most consumer debt is driven by an intensely fostered drive to acquire and consume. Blunt that socioeconomic assault, and debt would fall drastically.
