Democrats made this an issue when Obama issued an executive order bypassing Congress. That was wrong. Trump was in the right to rescind the executive order and then call on Congress to pass a law.

Moreover, the *real* purpose of the short-lived shutdown was so Democrats AND Republicans could posture in front of the camera to provide clips for their next election campaigns.

Unfortunately, the anti-Trump bedwetters are so focused on denying Trump any form of political victory they would gladly sacrifice every DACA kid if that's the price they must pay.

The average age of “Dreamers” enrolled in DACA is 24 years old. Many are in their late 20s.

I get tired of illegal immigration being equated with robbery or murder. That is misleading and dehumanizing rhetoric. The severity of the crime of overstaying your visa or entering the country without proper process is more akin to cheating on your taxes. We only put people in jail for that if they don't pay what they owe or at least a settlement.

Most of the dreamers have had tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of education and health care invested in them, and we're going to kick them out? That's stupid. We will never recover our investment that way. My solution would be to make them pay some kind of tax penalty, after they pay it or while they're paying it, give them a permanent residency status with the caveat that they lose it if they commit a felony & if convicted, will also be deported after their sentence. They also should not get the right to vote.

In the long run we all win. They stay in the only country they've ever known, and over a lifetime contribute a lot more than we invested. Immigrants by the 4th generation are typically fully socialized, the Dreamers are already the 2nd generation so they're halfway there. Their grandkids will be little Republicans, just like the Irish Catholics became. So it'll be fine in the end.

If we kick them out they go back to a country where they may not even speak the language and waste all their potential, plus we lost out whatever we put in. Everyone loses except racists who hate them.

Your last paragraph is so off-base it's sad. You need to stop worshipping Trump like some bronze god.

I don't care. My personal opinion is most government employees suck at their job anyway.
