You...who have carefully documented here at CD the doom and gloom of our empire, our freedoms, our society, our wealth distribution or society's ability to care. You who are worried about the Fed, Trump, Socialists, Technology, cost of living etc.

You are right. We are under occupation. The fist of the oppressor is closing. The imports are coming in and the jobs are leaving. I understand you see this as every bit as hard as other forced occupations....less the legal status of property and brutal physical punishment, you see how you are economic slaves. Less the direct seizure of anything of value, brutal kidnapping and extermination of your neighbors, allowance of free speech and constant fight for enough food (as witnessed by obesity in this country) the occupation of the 1% over the 99% is just as brutal as Hitler's occupation of France. Obviously, in these dire circumstances, there's no path foreward. Relative living standards really just smooth over the fact that poor children here have it just as badly as those like in slumdog millionaire's India. I scarcely understand why the movie opened eyes here...it's all around after all.

The question is, you knowledgeable ones. Will you fight? Will you come to together to be a resistance on 1, and then many? Will you take on the challenge of starting a company to give jobs to your neighbors, to volunteer to programs whose budgets have been slashed, to force yourself to learn beyond the grade in order to achieve more and help others up.

I knew you would. Because you are patriots. Share your victories here with other patriots, so they may be enlightened by your stories of how you did care. You turned off the news and went out and did something that helped reduce the Gini Coefficient. You propelled economic growth by finding a machine to compete against an import. Let your stories of triumph inspire all around you.

Son, we live in a world that has Wall Street, and that Wall Street has to be guarded by men with big bank accounts. Who's gonna do it? You? You, CFO Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the bottom 80%, and you curse the bankers. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that the bankrupties of the middle class, while tragic, probably saved the economy; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, drives the economy.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that Wall Street -- you need me on that Wall Street. We use words like "gini coefficient," "labor force participation," "default rate." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent oppressing the middle class. You use them as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very economic opportunities that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up an account at Schwab and stand the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

For the most part, our patriotic spirit has been 'engineered' out of majority of citizens today, even though our govt is extremely corrupt, it just keeps going, no one is willing to stand up and do something about it, they are too worried about their own quality of life (freedom to do what they want).

I also think what keeps a lot of patriots from acting, is their actions would look a whole lot like domestic terrorism on the surface, first line of defense they would clash with, would be local police, they would be showing them engaged in gun battles with police, FBI, etc. That wouldnt go over too well on the nightly news, most people would NEVER join up with such a group, even though they are doing it for the right reason.

A good example is the Boston Tea Party event, they successfully achieved what they were set out to do, but if that same thing happened today, im betting most people would be calling for those responsible to be arrested, they cannot see beyond what they are being shown.

Lieqiang - LMAO...awesome

MLSFan - As a leader, you need to do as Washington did. After securing your own finances and respect, then use that to draw upon the resources of other countries to help you pivot the country....wait, perhaps that's Trump and the Russians...nevermind, let's table this for now.

Michigan Greg - Congrats on your new found fortune. Now, will you repatriate the money to the United States or will you be a foul person and leave the monies overseas and not pay tax. Be a hero, I'm sure collectibility and transferability is just as it would be here. Claim it on your taxes and worry about the realities later.

rstevens - Dude...put your guns away. Seriously. We're in the econ forum. We fight with our wallets and efforts...and mostly bs. Besides, the Boston Tea Party participants need to be arrested for tresspassing, theft of goods, willful destruction of property and whatever the EPA regulation is against dumping waste directly in the harbor. Think outside of the gun. Maybe get together with some chronically unemployed construction dudes and build a property that you then charge low rent on and let everyone share equally.

If this is how people on Wall St. truly think, count me out.
The market is akin to the casino, house always wins.
I am reminded of Kevin Spacey in the movie Margin Call, who upon realizing he created nothing of true value stated:
"I'd rather have spent my life digging holes".

I believe Kevin misspoke. "He'd rather have spent his life pounding holes."

Too soon?
