Your selection of a portion of the quote is misplaced, the entirety of the quote is what should be focused on. If you don't know the laws and how to abide by them in a manner that is most advantageous to you, that's on you.

Federal and State tax codes are made publicly available and you can read them for free on the Internet -- the entirety of them. If you can't afford the Internet, you can go to the library for free where you can read this free tax code legislation. That's a lot of reading.

That’s a pretty small rate to pay on a very small base. Some might say that’s “nothing”. For example, I pay far more in federal income tax alone than a full time, minimum wage earner grosses in a year.

If you're a single person who make $15,010 or less in 2017 you'd qualify for EITC of up to $510.
Retirement savings contribution credit of 50%, for example if someone was low wage but had enough extra disposable income to invest in silver or storage units for failed business models they could instead throw it into an IRA and get RSC.

The truth is everyone is ignorant of the law. The law has become so vast and so complex and so lengthy and so intrusive that not one person on earth can know more than a tiny corner of it.
It's even worse for tax law. The dual tax system is deliberate. One part if for the people who pay taxes. The other is for the tax lawyers, CPAs, H.R. Blocks, and other vultures that feed off of them.
It was better when the law was the 10 Commandment or the four books of Moses. At least people could know them. And obeying them produced better people than obeying the current mish-mash does.

So true and applicable to a whole host of special interests. We see the vulture/leech portion of society fighting to protect it's special interests not only in the realm of taxation, but also for example, the poverty industry, the abortion industry, even the real estate industry. All vultures!

The people making an average wage don't even have enough to worry about compared to the vilified "wealthy".
