I began e-filing as soon as it was available, IIR. I have never scanned in anything to send with my filing, State or Federal. Why should you? They already have a copy from the employer/payer. That is why you will be caught if you fail to list one.
I've been doing my own taxes as long as I had a home computer, ca. 1985? and was very happy to not send in the big expensive packet via registered or certified mail. (I forget which
