Anyone who claims to be able to distill 10,000 pages of tax code into a short skit is not to be trusted.

The tax code should have never bloated to over 10,000 pages.

All that does is make lawyers and accountants rich at OUR expense

I want to reply to this just to get it to the top of the CD pile again! I think beer is the perfect way to explain taxes. I never really understood until the "beer" explanation kicked in. Awesome, thank you!

The vast majority of the people donít need lawyers or accountants let alone make them rich. For most tax filers free software programs or tax forms will walk you through what you need to do.

I was referring to 10,000 pages of crap implemented and written at OUR expense.

BTW, there are still plenty of tax preparers and lawyers being paid by a Hell of a lot of people.

A bit dramatic if thatís what you meant. I donít think many if any got rich off of helping write the tax code

I agree. I get frustrated when I hear politicians talking about simplifying the tax code. They seem to be making sound bites instead of serious policy. If you want to simplify the tax code, start by cutting it in half: from 10,000 pages to 5,000 pages.
