Sacrifices aren't all financial.

We often believe we're talking the same language when in fact that ain't the case. When we here in the USA say “people”, we're too often not referring to those composing our world's aggregate population, but rather people similar to ourselves and sharing similar viewpoints.
Men or women, older or younger, white or darker shades of skins, Republicans or Democrats, we usually aren't explicit, but the “people” we refer to are people similar to ourselves.

Fortunately we don't all stay within this mind-set all of the time and within all situations.
Prior to the D-day invasion, we did not evaluate the individual familie's wealth to determine who's going in with that first and riskiest wave of troops to run into the beaches of Normandy. No one decided that first wave be primarily composed of those from families of the more wealthy with greater vested financial interests in our nation or from those from poorer families that likely contributed less to our economy. We provide equal opportunities for all family sacrifices, they needn't be financial.

Of course not all sacrifices are financial. Whoever said they were? What exactly is the point of this thread? This probably belongs in a blog not a thread.

People with enough wealth and family power could get out of risky military service in 1944 if they wanted, but not all of them chose that route.

People with enough wealth and family power can get out of risky military service in 2019 if they want, but not all of them would choose that route.
