The effects of an extended government shutdown. (loans, insurance, status)

Politics aside, what effects would an extended government shut down be? Here is a list just off the top of my head, but feel free to add your own.


1. No income tax returns will be processed.
2. No new social security claims will be process (so one new can retire and collect SS)
3. New loans and mortgages delays due to "difficulties obtaining income validation for personal tax return income", which it turn will hit the sale of housing.
4. Similar issues are happening with Title companies, unable to verify who owns what.
5. Stock market commodities stability, since no government statistical or economic reports, including those on the prices and supply levels of agricultural goods.
6. USDA stopped issuing mortgages.
7. No or limited national weather service warnings.
8. Extended delays in school funding from the department of education. (could this lead to college / technical shutdowns due to funding issues?)
9. No new disability claims processing for Veteran affairs


These are a few just off my head, many of them will have an unintended domino effect, if new mortgages can't get processed, a lot of fewer houses will be sold, which in turn will lead to layoffs in people working in housing, with fewer houses getting built, the need for building supplies will drop, which in turn means a reduction in the sales staff of building suppliers, then layoffs of employees at housing supply manufacturers.

This is more political posturing on how the next 4 years will be and less to do with economic impact.

During the current federal government shutdown, slightly over 83% of the federal government continues unaffected. It's really just a 17% federal government shutdown. For most people, the federal government is something they see on the news but it just doesn't effect their daily lives.

The national parks are not collecting camping fees. This is losing a lot of revenue as folks flock to Arizona (where I live) to snowbird.
