How am I going to mail regular letters? By FedEx or UPS?

I work for a printing/direct mail company. We send out PLENTY of mail every single day. Junk mail isn't going away anytime soon.

That doesn't even make any sense. Why would the government need to send a jury summons by anything but mail even if it costs more?

The presumption was if the USPS went away

honestly, fedex is absolutely terrible and ups is a complete pain to deal with, theyre only marginally better. but i hate dhl with a passion. ups has a very mediocre win.

usps isnt going to be replaced until someone does their job. thats not amazon, its definitely not fedex, and usps is more reliable. im not in love with them, its just funny that people think someone even wants to do their job. they dont.

When fax technology first became popular, everyone thought the PO was a goner.

Things would be disastrous without USPS. They create the basic infrastructure for all the other logistics/mail carriers and allow them to be profitable by focusing on higher margin and volume dense areas. Ever see a UPS or Fed-Ex truck up in the mountain towns, dessert towns, or other remote areas? They use USPS to deliver to those non-profitable areas. Furthermore, USPS creates a virtual price ceiling for mail and small packages; imagine how expensive Fed-Ex and UPS would be without them.

Finally, the USPS has its own law enforcement and works with DEA, ATF, FBI, and DOJ which are intangible for safety.
