No--it looks like companies are evolving with the times. Same reason we don't have chimney sweeps any more--they had to learn a new skill.
Not sure that's a different answer. Getting service for a lot less money, and displacing an entire tier of worker almost entirely to increase profits. Yay evolution.

There are still plenty of chimney sweeps, that’s a bad example. Most don’t heat their homes with the fireplace anymore, so fewer are needed but many of us still have 1-3 fireplaces and the chimneys need to be cleaned to prevent a chimney fire from the creosote. Maybe try using switchboard operators, or keypunch operators.
