In previous Tax years, the 1040 front page said attach W2 "here", meaning front of the page.

This year's 1040 mentions to attach W2 on back of 1040, but it does not say "here"

I googled this question and am finding different results, i.e
1. Don't attach, use paperclip
2. Attach to front

2018 1040 instructions (pp 66) says "Attach Forms W-2 and 2439 to Form 1040"

Just staple it on the side, to the front.

Ha! This was exactly my question when I first saw the new form format.

My vote is to mimic the old way. They'll know.

Don't staple, use a paperclip.

The State of Ohio does not want the forms attached in any way; just put everything into an envelope.

I don’t think you are supposed to staple it.

Both this years and last years Fed 1040 form & instructions only say to "attach" W-2s & 1099s.

None say how to attach, staple, tape, glue or otherwise.

If I had paper filed, I would have stapled them on back of new shorter 1040 form as I think they want the Name area left clear. This based on the past practice of attaching them in the middle of the old long form.

I do not staple mine and have not in a long time. Just fold it up into the form.
