I just got hire at 72! I don't need the job because I have enough money. But my wife died and I have a place to go every day and it will keep me active and alert. You worry about loosing it at my age!

Of course, that doesn't mean every individual person is better off today than they were a decade ago -- hence this poll. Are you better off now in 2019 than you were back in 2009?
Much better in 2019. Love the poll. I hope the doomsday'ers from other threads take note of the poll results!

Much better in every way - job, salary, investments, short and long term financial goals. Everything.
Things really took off in the last 2 1/2 years or so.

Since I started my first real job in 1963, I have been better off financially, every year.

In 2009 I was 31, had a very stable job but it paid a pretty low salary. I was in a lot of credit card debt and student loan debt. Net worth was certainly negative. I was relatively happy but could not have survived a job loss and my standard of living was lower-middle class.

Now I make 4x as much as I did then, have no credit card debt, have enough in savings and investments to pay off all my student loans plus have a bunch left over, have good equity in my home in a nice area, and live an upper-middle class lifestyle. I'm in the process of purchasing a second property as a rental/income property. There is no comparison from where I was then to where I am now.

How can most be better off? We are all paying more for the corruption and schemes that seem never ending in this country.

Way better off. Not even comparable to ten years ago.

Turn off the news. It is entertainment that farms money by divisiveness. Things have really been great for most of us.
