Many lawyers are just mercenaries without guns. The lawyers do what they are hired to do. The people hiring them are saying "How can I cheat, lie and steal profit for everyone so I can get my bonus." Short term profit rules and does not consider how many people or how the country may be damaged in getting that profit.
