Based on the amount of gold we have in Fort Knox to have a gold standard , we would have to have gold at 186k an ounce to cover the money supply

My dad bought his house in the '60's for $22,500 (very nice area) and it's LONG paid off even though interest rates were much higher back then. Try doing that now when you're borrowing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Sure, and median household income in 1967 was $7142, while in 2016 it was $59,039.

Of course houses were less expensive in the 1960s, and of course it has been paid off if it was purchased over 50 years ago.

Throwing out raw numbers without regard for inflation is pointless

The 30k mortgage I had in the 1970’s was crushing back then compared to my rent....

Today that paid off house which cost 35k has 12k a year in taxes ...that paid off mortgage amount no longer being paid would not even cover the utilities today

I have never said I think we should have a gold standard. On the other hand, what we have now is intentional inflation.

OK, that's a fair point, inflation certainly is a factor.

Also, pull a banknote out of your wallet. What does it say on it?
Does it say "United States Legal Tender" or, "United States Treasury Note"?

Does it? You know, what happened to kennedy, when he tried to print US owned money? Or, to Lincoln?
I don’t need your input as I’m well aware and understand how things work

What do you mean, no one had a better idea? Back in the USSR, mnoney had "property of the people of the Soviet Union" printed on it.
One rouble, also, had 0.96g of gold value printed on it. You literally could go to a store and buy gold, rouble for gram.

Why do you think, entire Jackal Island meeting was top secret? That was sham, that made trillioners quadrillioners.
I just don't get one very simple thing.
What for? Look at D Rockefeller. Died just like the last pauper under the bridge. Took nothing with him. About the richest man of the world. And?
