Why is this so surprising?

Price is usually always predicated on supply and demand and most young people in this country choose to get an education so they can have a career sitting at a desk rather than using their body and hands to earn an income.

A full college education is encouraged and carries more prestige than attending a trade school to become a blue collar worker. As demand increases, so do the costs of the material and labor and apparently, they are not now equally balanced.

It would be very surprising to anyone who understands data, or to those who could read the multiple times in the thread the idea has been discredited entirely as anything other than an outlier.

I don't think a plumber worker can make $200k. That's $100 per hour working 8 hours.

$ 315,000 plumber: meet the overtime king

link

A lot of IT people went contractor because they want to get paid for overtime. There's a shortage of good people. The downside is that you can get pigeonholed and be no longer in demand. There's a tendency in the industry to shift about every 10 years to new platforms which places a lot of skillsets in the legacy category.

Yeah, that kind of money only goes to a journeyman who works for himself
