I’m researching opportunities to move to Canada likely in 2022. Targeting Calgary but also open to other smaller cities in or near the Rockies. Vancouver, Toronto, and Victoria are all out.

Right now the US does test people arriving for Covid, including Americans. So are you saying that since they do, the US is currently a regime and you have lost your freedoms?
Came back from Mexico 3 times during Covid no test upon return including 2 months ago at the El Paso, TX border.

The Mexico border is not closed, its just political BS that is not enforced.

The US tests air passengers for Covid.

My point stands.

Canada is ran by idiots. As an American, I will never go there or spend a dime there again. Funny how they don't want us in their country but they want our products and our vaccines which they are not capable of making on their own. It is like paying rent for your adult kid and having him tell you to stay the hell outta his room. It is ashamed how the Canadians got fooled into thinking that Trudeau inherited the wisdom and intelligence of his dad who was a great President of Canada. The kid obviously didn't inherit either.

These lockdowns will be viewed as one of the most significant policy blunders of this generation a generation from now.

Hard to know where to begin with some of the ignorance this post.

First, Canada isn't "run by idiots" any more than the US is. Canada is certainly a more peaceful country than the US is, so which "idiots" are worse, do you think?

Second, the political leader of Canada is a prime minister, not a president. Canada is a parliamentary democracy.

Posters should at least know some basics about a given city/state/country before posting such self-confident, assertive comments about it.

If the hospitals in an area become full with covid patients, there are not beds left for people sick with anything else, they will have to be transferred elsewhere or turned away. Then you have more overall deaths, from both he pandemic and other things.
And yet-the lockdowns were supposed to be for "2 weeks to flatten the curve" and not overload health care resources. NO hospitals are currently overwhelmed with Covid patients, and very few ever actually were. The "lockdown" hasn't been about health care providers for months, even giving credit that it was at one point.

I don't disagree...but have you seen what we put in the Oval Office, to say nothing about much of congress? I don't think we have much to brag about.

Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy, its head of state is Liz 2 in Buckingham Palace. The site of its capital at Ottawa was selected by another cousin marrying "Queen", Victoria.

Britain at least has had the good sense to announce it's opening up. Canada's tossed science aside in a silly, self-sabotaging attempt to show how it can be free of its big brother to south.
