Venezuela case is different, their currency is worthless and any import goods, material, machines have become unaffordable,so it is difficult for them to produce enough local goods.
Whatever they produce, there is not enough truck and gas to deliver these goods to the stores.
Even clean water has become a problem.
what I dont understand is,instead of lining up to buy food, why not grow your own, veggies and chicken which lay eggs, better than nothing.
Thieves will sneak in and steal your chicken and veggi's.
come to think of it,long long time ago,I befriended some CPAs who believe in a time where there is always inflation,it is better to be a borrower than a saver, they all use their credit cards and run up a few thousand dollars ,they figure they will be paying back in cheaper worth' less' dollars.
It works out well for some,as they get promotion and good raises and those few thousand dollars mean less to them compared t o the wealth and income they achieved in later years ,in the mean time they have used other people's money to enjoy a better lifestyle.
Back then stock market goes nowhere, banks offer 5% ,S &l offers 1% MORE.
Long term bond yields 12%.
will we ever see that again?
Hope not , those cds at 12% had negative real returns just like now ….higher rates and higher inflation may be no better off .
If we have a severe stock market crash those 30 year treasuries at 1.88% may be the best deal around
We are not "allowed" to have a stock market crash. The Federal Reserve and government will print a quadrillion dollars and nationalize the entire economy before they let the stock market crash.
