I've owned Ford, Buick, Chevy, Dodge. I now have three Toyota's. I feel bad that I don't own American but now I don't have to work on cars in the drive way like I used to. I hate fixing cars. Hint to American auto makers, build something that will last 300,000 miles+, reasonable cost, good mileage, hold it's value, simple for the owner to repair if it does break down. And something all auto makes should strive for is backward compatibility. In other words make parts and components interchangeable year to year. Don't keep reinventing the wheel. If you have a good system, don't "improve it", leave it alone. I sick and tired of this built in obsolescence.
Japanese counterparts are heavily subsidized by their government: low yen exchange rate, zero percent interest rates, government program to monitor quality of cars, limited availability of dealers for foreign cars in Japan, etc.
I read in the Washington Post the other day that more Buicks are sold in China than in the US....they think those boats are cool over there (Apparently, Chairman Mao rode around in a big black Buick).
And the ultimate status symbol in China is a Hummer H2....which cost over $200 grand!
So, the Chinese sell us their junk and we sell them our junk! LOL
