Those of you that follow Congress know how difficult it is to pass a law now days. It can be passed by the House and then fail in the Senate, or not even be brought up.
It is my understanding that a single Senator can hold up a bill and not allow it to be voted on and it is nearly impossible to get it passed until the single Senator decides to lift his or her HOLD.
Government experts and lawyers: Could a single or group of Senators place a hold on the 700 Billion Bail Out law and hold it from being passed even though the majority of Congress decide to vote YES?
I don't think so cause then Ron Paul would of stopped the wasteful spending by the government already... you can filibuster and need a good amount of people to do it and also a good amount of people to stop it... my understanding is that most of Congress WANTS the bailout... it seems the lobbyist have been busy... even Obama and McCain are for it... so much for the anti-corruption...

Ron Paul is a Congressmen so he would not have that power. But a Senator can hold up a bill. I just want to know what can be done to over ride a Senators hold. Political Science experts?

The Senate can vote down a filibuster with 60 (or 61?) votes.
My concern and disgust comes with ACORN and La Raza putting their sticky and very corrupt fingers in this pie. Why should we be giving these two groups 20 percent of any profit. This has been another pork barrel, earmark free for all for the democrats.
I will be very grateful to any senator that stops the bailout bill. Unfortunately, I believe that all of them are corrupt and have a price. The bailout will be passed next week.
we would all be grateful to a senator who would stop the bailout bill and that senator could pretty much guarantee his / her reelection. i am not so sure about reelection chances for the senators who support this bill though.
