Again, jmho, but presently gas (and diesel) autos are on the wrong side of history. Think buggy and buggy whip makers. Did not all go under in one day, but by 1910 the future of that industry was already written. Get out of gas and diesel automobiles while you still have other options.

As long as vehicles roll on the ground, they will always need alignments (and maintenance) whether they use petroleum fuel or not. I used to manage this type of business and typically auto maintenance sales decline whenever things get tight.

Yes, indeed. The Republicans are bailing water out of this sinking ship just long enough to get you fools to vote McCain in office.

I just returned from a week and a half traveling on business through 3 different states. I found the restaraunts, stores, bustling with business, airports were flooded with travelers, people going to work, driving cars, business as usual. I don't know if these are people who aren't affected or people who aren't concerned. It's confusing.

Most Americans have few if any investments and just go to work, live paycheck to paycheck doing a ugly boring job at a place like Walmart, this does not really affect them. Life goes on and on for the average American.

Yes, some people are hurt during every recession. But this is not the 1930s or even the terrible recession of the early 1980s where there was 14% unemployment.

I meet a LOT of people who don't want to hear the bad news. They want to continue on, business as usual, and pretend the entire storm will blow over. I feel bad for some of these folks, because they really aren't going to know what hit them.

For myself, I'm going to spend the weekend canning whatever foods I can.

That 90% statistic sounds like whitewash, media hype or wishful thinking to me. Everybody I know is affected in some capacity. If you buy, save, own, rent, drive, eat, drink, wear clothes, work, pay taxes, need medical attention or plan to retire, you're affected. Anybody not do at least one of those things?

This whole great depression BS is a media ploy to gain votes for Obama and as much as I hate it is working. Obama and McCain would be dead even or even have McCain ahead if Americans thought things were turning up. They have no choice but to keep the dire news coming, fake or not.
