Gas is cheaper than ever. You get approximately 270 gallons of gasoline for an ounce of gold (REAL money). The last time gas was this cheap was during the Clinton administration when an ounce of gold could earn you over 300 gallons. Anyone have a spot price unleaded/gold ratio chart?

Now, if you measure gas against a shrinking ruler like the dollar, you may come to a different conclusion

Wonderful post. So many people keep forgetting the fact that the dollar lost 40% of it's value at one point.

Ahhh..the good old days. What a difference 2.4 yrs makes. I doubt it very much if we see gas below $3.00 a gal (esp in ca) for the rest of the year. A barrel of oil is up to $103.00 + change & climbing all due to the bull**** in the horrid middle east.

Gasoline here is $3.59 + here in MA and the other day (Tuesday)I paid $3.40 per gallon for home heating oil and that is with a discount if you buy a minimum of 150 gallons.
I am not seeing the prices dropping off quickly. I feel so bad for people on fixed income.

Here we are in September of 2015 with gas prices under $2 a gallon for regular in parts of the US. Wait until the Iraq Nuclear deal passes in the next few weeks. Prices will tumble againtowards the end of the year.
