We are in a Bolshevik regime.
While the Obama administration’s financial planners wring their hands in public and say “We feel your pain” to debtors at large, they know that the past ten years have been a golden age for the banking system and the rest of Wall Street. Like feudal lords claiming the economic surplus for themselves while administering austerity for the population at large, the wealthiest 1 per cent of the population has raised their appropriation of the nationwide returns to wealth – dividends, interest, rent and capital gains – from 37 per cent of the total ten years ago to 57 per cent five years ago and it seems nearly 70 per cent today. This is the highest proportion since records have been kept. We are approaching Russian kleptocratic levels.
President Obama's stimulus plan -passed by the house and the senate-calls for spending huge amounts of money- but not just tossing it out in tax cuts for people to go splurge on some items. A huge portion of this advance is a down payment on America's future. Here's a look at a few of those items.
The existing energy grid that supplies all of us with energy is outdated. It can't handle the current demands. If we don't update it we will all be experiencing longer and longer electrical outages. Do you want your state to be one of the ones experiencing wide spread power outages for weeks? Would you rather spend the funds and modernize the existing energy grid? If we don't do it now, it will have to be done at some point- no one debates that. (The funds for this also include 100M to help train people to work on this- creating new jobs!)
Across our country, highways, bridges and roads are in need of repair. If we don't take care of these problems we know they will only get worse. Those problems don't just go away. We've seen what happens when we ignore known problems. New Orleans levee system and collapsing bridges are a result of delayed repairs. Wouldn't you like to see us spend on repairs rather than wait until some disaster causes us to spend more on rebuilding?
Increasing future technology is also in the budget. This calls for expanding broadband. It also includes funding for ground based radar surveillance to be updated to satellite-based system for Air traffic controllers. (Oh my, assumed we had that)
We should see less delays and have safer skyway . Anything to complain about there?
Environmental issues like – reducing the greenhouse effect 18 percent by 2010, clean water funding, greening our farms, developing low carbon emission and renewable energy sources are included in the plan. That is building on America's future. Isn't that something we should be doing for our children?
The military will see increased pay, upgraded housing, better equipment and improved VA benefits. I think we should support our military. Anyone ever see some of the decapitated military housing? Don't our American heroes deserve better?
These projects will come at huge financial costs. However, clearly money needs to be spent on such projects at some point. Addressing these issues in time might actually be saving additional funds that would become necessary if we ignore this. Now is when we need the jobs and have to try and turn things around for our country.
President Obama will be cutting out some of the govt. waste and will not tolerate the abundance of greed and extravagance that brought us here. He is cutting out failed programs, seeking repayment of some funds, and working on plans to cut the deficit.
However in keeping costs down and eventually paying off some of the debt. - we all can play a role. It's up to us to help the plans for our country to succeed. With new access to a centralized online data reporting system for lobbing, access to legislators names who pushed for various earmarks, access to records of where the funds are being spent, we can help monitor those funds. We can demand more accountability from CEO's being bailed out with our money. We can demand that those abusing the funds they receive face punishments that include repayment of those funds. We owe a new era of responsibility to our country and our children who will also be facing the deficit we leave behind.

Wait. You're saying this is the Obama administration's fault?
How? How did they cause this in just a few days? Because it's TOTALLY THEIR FAULT. I would think it would take more than a few days to do this kind of damage. WAIT, IT DID TAKE MORE THAN A FEW DAYS TO DO THIS KIND OF DAMAGE.
I've noticed that Obama also seized power just as the Bolsheviks did.
Man, I was all like "We should have an election or something." and Obama was all like "I'm seizing power." and America was all like "That's cool." And Palin was like "I can see Russia from here." and McCain was all like "GRRrrrRRRR" and Obama was like, "Look at the surplus I'm walking into - I must create a Hell on earth." and he spoke, and the waters parted, and Hell was born.
This forum gets more political everyday. There is NOTHING that Obama can do that will seem right to EVERYONE. NOTHING. If he does nothing, he loses. If he does something, he loses. Do I think we need to throw money at black holes? F8ck no. If you gave me 30 billion, guess what? I could stimulate the economy, too. I'd buy stuff with it. LOTS OF STUFF. I'd stimulate like, everywhere and stuff. First thing I'd do is get a bass boat and go bass fishing. I'd need some worms. See? Buying worms. It's the new AIG.
the same people who complained about bush's spending (AND RIGHTLY SO) are now deciding that when obama spends it is okay. well, it wasn't okay before and it is not okay now. do you honestly think that these partisan earmarks (on both sides) are going to trickle down to the average american who is stuck paying for all of this crap? the average homeowner has just lost value in their home with his housing proposal! americans have a right to be aggravated. here is another newsflash for you. spending money to buy things will never ever fix the economy. permanent jobs need to be created to fix the economy and that is one issue that is not being addressed, just as he will not visit the illegal immigration issue which is where a lot of the jobs actually went. our non-manufacturing economy (thank NAFTA) actually could not absorb all of the jobs and housing that needed to be created to keep the immigrants here (to help potentially fund their social security ponzi scheme long-term). the rich tier is taking their money and running, the poor tier is waiting for their handout, and the middle tier is left picking up the pieces.
Obama's problem is that he acts like he's being controlled by other parties. He's pushing mandatory universal health care( Hillarys big pet project, go figure) like crazy even if now is probably the worst time possible to do it. His Treasury secretary, Geithner, a horrible choice for the job, is doing absolutely nothing and can't even staff his office.
And then there's his ever present teleprompter. I swear this guy is more out of touch and in over his head than Bush was. What financial recovery plan? Let him do as much damage as he can, he'll be gone in 4 years or less, impeached or forced to resign. Then his successor can talk about how HE inherited a country in a total shambles, one far worse than Obama inherited.
Wait. You're saying this is the Obama administration's fault?

Hi 70Ford,
Well then I would expect Obama not to appoint as his secretary Geithner who was in bed the with the IMF, Federal Reserve Bank of New York and FOMC who extended transparently the policy of Paulson. He was a presiding oligarchical appointed representative during this mess. I am hiding in the jungle as a survivor while some of you cannot shake off the effects of the Obama messianic cool aide. Obama's cabinet is full of Wall Street insiders. They are ruling this country.
It was also New York finance BTW that swept out Kerensky and ushered in the Bolsheviks. What's the difference? Jacob Schiff of the New York finance syndicate was constantly meddling in Russia all the way back to the Russo-Japanese war when he financed 25% of Japan's war effort. They had a New York party when the Czar fell. It was cleverly disguised as Jewish emancipation(worked great, the Czar was a Muppet compared to Stalin who killed lots of people including lots of Jews and no one in New York did a thing). The real problem is the Czar did want their banks in the Russian empire. It actually even goes back as far as Crimea in the 1850's.

You actually think I advocate the false dichotomy of McCain/Palin? Did you actually see the debates? Did you actually hear one of the candidates give any remark on the financial crisis? They agreed among themselves not to issue one word on it and it was asked repeatedly. We can debate all we like on gay marriage, leash laws for dogs on the beech, and hemlines on hot summer days but not a peep about the financial crisis.

Do you see that Obama isn't stimulating the economy yet? Do you see any difference between financial policy? Heck even Bush's $1500 was double what Obama is passing out and he is supposed to be a populist? We are seeing the same deliberate monetary contraction in the 1870s and 1930s.
BTW this is about Obama's financial policy. If it were about the Iraq war etc it would be off topic.
Actually, I do. Obama has the balls to say it sucks when it sucks.
By trying to rescue us with more bank credit he is saying it after he kicked me there. Yeah it does hurt.
Now seriously think. They are out there saying we don't have enough credit. In order to save us from our debts we need more debt. I have given you all the information to see this ridiculous paradox they have put us in. Feel free to refute any points.
1. The largest contributor to our political system is the finance industry.
2. The finance industry has used their influence to expand their markets,as all capital seeks to do. They don't care if its elephants, donkeys or pigs. All take their money or they can't win an election.
3. Instead of using sea shells, copper, silver, gold, script, shoes, bakery, or candle sticks, banks have inserted their product(bank loans) as our money. If it were a candle stick maker he would have also expanded his market substantially. However with loans we need to actually pay them off but then the very debt we try to pay off is our money, oops. If we decided to use toxic waste as our money there are great arguments to haul it away but we couldn't. Yes I maxed out on rads today but if we get rid of it we have no money. Yes its good to pay off debt, but if we do, we have no money.
4. Americans don't have any assets in enough quantity to receive bank loans. They reached a point where they were tapped out so much we were trying to make loans to anyone who was virtually a drunken bum. Therefore, we have reached the end of this banking ponzi scheme. Its collapsing.
