If common sense were so common everyone would have it. All his education and experience and no common sense. He was to busy being in love and living out a fanatasy in his head. Now he's living in reality and looking at a pile of bills. A beach rental, as if that was the minor mistake that started his mess. What a *******! Hard to know what happened when his head was in the clouds. Good grief!

Seriously this guy had his heads in the clouds and fantasizing about his wife all of a sudden making a ton of money. What an idiot. He took his whole entired take home salary as his mortgage and then he's stressing about how will he buy groceries and pay the electric bill.
And this guy apparently was making 120K a year.
What is wrong with people?

Greedy? Sense of entitlement? Out of touch with reality? Stupid? All of the above?

I know some people out there were taken advantage of - people who really didn't have a clue about how adjustable rate mortgages work, and who listened to the "professionals" who convinced them that their properties would only go up in value and they could quickly build equity, etc. I'm not giving people like that a total pass, but at least I can understand how someone with no financial background could find themselves in trouble. But this guy? Like I said, I find it very difficult to feel any sympathy for him.

If his book does sell, and if he does come into money, he should have to pay back everything - either to the bank or to the taxpayers - before he gets one red cent.

I wonder if we should declare a Jubilee and cancel all debts, savings and capital paper and start over by giving each cirizen the house and cars they own and $10,000 new dollars.

Be sure to bar everyone from using credit cards. Otherwise, a large percent of people would just spend that 10,000 on things they WANTED, and then turn around and charge things that they NEEDED. I'm betting it would take about six months for them to get right back to where they are now.

The moral of this story: don't get married, in particular, don't marry a woman who thinks attempts to save in the face of crushing debt burden is "petty, small-minded and unattractive".

LOL ok and don't marry a man who doesn't know how to add. And on top of that, fantasizes about a stay at home mom for 20 years to all of a sudden be earning six figures. So she could make up for his lack of ability to add a couple numbers together.

Anywho both were stupid for not realizing their budget. This has nothing to do with him getting married.

The girl was/is a total quack job. The guy is even worse than her though. Together they would make one dumb kid!

If you watched/read any amount of these sob stories, don't you start getting the impression they've been picked to do just the opposite of invoking sympathy?
