I've been out of work a while and I'm thinking of applying to 3 or 4 employment agencies for some temp-to-hire or direct hire work.
I have read online that there are some not so honest agencies out there who are simply mining for employers/contacts to call when they take your information. And that some of these places will call my references, even if they have no jobs to offer, just to see if my old employers are hiring.
Does anyone know how common this is? My references are important to me and I really don't want them becomming annoyed by sales types hounding them.
I suppose if I'm only applying to 3 or 4 agencies, then its probably no big deal.
Can anyone here give an honest objective assessment of what happens when agencies get your info?
