My wife and I are considering moving from the US to a rural area in Alberta, preferably within an hour or two drive of Edmonton (to have access to the larger city's amenities).

How are Americans accepted there? We are pretty easy going and friendly. I would be employed as a dentist. I do my best to get along with everyone, treating my patients with respect and a gentle touch. I just want to make sure that the locals will accept me as their doctor.

Thank you very much!

I can't see anybody having an issue with you're being an American.

There's some really pretty country up there, particularly due west and south east of the city. West gets you into the foothills about an hour's drive out, SE is parkland and lakes, and is fairly heavily populated, lots of acreages and hobby farms and 3 or 4 smallish towns past Sherwood Park, out to maybe an hour out of the city.

I haven't really been north much, though I do remember Morinville being full of soldiers (there's a base there) and smelling like dog food.

From looking at your posts Alberta may be your best bet for a move. Stable economy etc...Albertans have a lot of dental coverage from their employers so you would be busy.
