All this talk about these great private schools, etc. Where do these kids go on to college? It's been my experience that a lot of top students in any school go to mediocre colleges.
A lot go on to state universities because of programs like Bright Futures or HOPE. A few get into big name schools. And some, like one of my daughters, get into big name schools and don't go. Yes, because of a boy. She's recovered from that action, but it was a crowning moment of stupidity.

It happens. I actually did something like that myself all those years ago. I did end up going to a highly rated school for my major (nursing), but my parents would have preferred I go to a smaller school.
My spouse, my kids and I are all public school graduates, and all of us went to nationally ranked colleges and universities.

Thanks. She and her dh (not the same boy; that one fell by the wayside before the first semester ended) are both off to grad school this fall after a sort of circuitous trail getting there.
Where is Stuyvesant HS in NYC on this list? I always thought they were better than Bronx Science and Brooklyn Tech?! I have my doubts about the validity of this list.
It was mentioned in the Washington Post that Newsweek gave the schools a short turn-around time to send the information back. So lots of schools are missing including most of Fairfax, VA including TJ as well as Stuyvesant in NYC. The list is incomplete since some schools sent their numbers in and others didn't.

TJ would absolutely be in the top 10. Absolutely amazing program.
