Our new principal has spoken and he wants everyone to work on classroom management in their Professional Learning Plan this year.

Can anyone recommend good reading material or workshops (professional development) that could be completed on line?

Thanks.

For elementary school - Harry Wong has his classes online. There are several levels of the course with different tuitions.

Marvin Marshall has online courses as well. Some of his articles are free.

Here's one for middle schools and high schools from Marvin Marshall

Whole Brain Teaching has free webinars, but they do charge $5 or something like that if you need a PD certificate. You can also register on their website and download any of their e-books for free (lots of pages!).

Is the principal trying to bring in a new schoolwide classroom management program? If he is pro-PBIS, you might want to look into CHAMPs. I don't know if they have online training, but I believe they have manuals and such if you search online. Also, if you have a regional educational service center/unit, they may offer online or weekend training.

Thanks for all the good responses. I have done Harry Wong and found it to be partially effective in some of my middle schools classes. This year I have a particularly difficult group that is screwing up my whole day. I will check out the Marvin Marshall series.
